Speaker: Yvan Boily, Mozilla Corporation

Title: Real-World Security Bugs

Abstract:
One of the advantage to working in an organization committed to being open is that we are happy to discuss and explain the security issues that we have encountered and how to address them. This session will feature a discussion of several relatively recent security issues encountered in Mozilla products and services, how they were detected, and what could have been done to prevent them.

Speaker Biography:
Yvan Boily is an Application Security Manager with Mozilla Corporation, and prior to that has a background in security with Finance and Government. Yvan Boily has previously launched an OWASP chapter in Winnipeg and currently leads the OWASP Vancouver chapter.

Title: Anatomy of Attacks

Abstract:
I'll be talking about modern malware landscape, the evolution of protective measures, some stats on the amount of data/threats we process in the Labs every day, a type of work that is done in a security lab, etc.

Speaker Biography:
Dmitry Samosseiko is the Senior Manager of SophosLabs Canada. Today, Dmitry leads a group of computer security researchers and system developers in Vancouver, focusing on malware, e-mail and web based threats. Before getting into anti-malware scene, Dmitry was responsible for Sophos' anti-spam initiatives. He was one of the first developers for Sophos PureMessage product and is credited for developing the first version of its anti-spam filter. Dmitry's current interests are in developing new strategies for computer and network security, improving malware analysis automation, applying big data analytics to security data and on cloud-based reputation services. Dmitry is an industry expert on computer security and has spoken at numerous security forums and events.
