Mini-conference Jury

The presentations at the mini-conference will be evaluated by the following jury

Yvan Boily
Application Security Manager, Mozilla Corporation

Yvan Boily is an Application Security Manager with Mozilla Corporation, and prior to that has a background in security with Finance and Government. Yvan Boily has previously launched an OWASP chapter in Winnipeg and currently leads the OWASP Vancouver chapter.

Dmitry Samosseiko
Senior Manager, SophosLabs Canada

Dmitry Samosseiko is the Senior Manager of SophosLabs Canada. Today, Dmitry leads a group of computer security researchers and system developers in Vancouver, focusing on malware, e-mail and web based threats. Before getting into anti-malware scene, Dmitry was responsible for Sophos' anti-spam initiatives. He was one of the first developers for Sophos PureMessage product and is credited for developing the first version of its anti-spam filter. Dmitry's current interests are in developing new strategies for computer and network security, improving malware analysis automation, applying big data analytics to security data and on cloud-based reputation services. Dmitry is an industry expert on computer security and has spoken at numerous security forums and events.

Devin Kinch
Senior Systems Engineer, Fortinet

Devin Kinch is a Senior Systems Engineer with Fortinet. Positioned on the front lines where he designs network security solutions, implements proof of concept designs, and supports product evaluations etc., Devin performs a critical role for Fortinet aligning the customer’s business and technical requirements with meaningful solutions while sharing critical customer feedback with Fortinet’s OS and hardware development teams for continuous product improvement. Prior to Fortinet, Devin held Sr. Network Engineering positions with IBM and Bank of America where he gained considerable experience designing and deploying enterprise class network infrastructures. Devin caries a Cisco CCIE designation and is a highly experienced Cisco engineer.

Konstantin Beznosov

Konstantin Beznosov,
Associate Professor, ECE UBC

Konstantin Beznosov, Ph.D., P.Eng., is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He joined UBC in August 2003 after working as a Security Architect at Quadrasis, Hitachi Computer Products (America), Inc (HICAM), where he designed and developed products for security integration of enterprise applications. Before HICAM, Dr. Beznosov consulted large telecommunication and banking companies on the architecture of security solutions for distributed enterprise applications, as a Security Architect at Concept Five Technologies.

Prior to graduating from Florida International University (FIU) in 2000 with a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Dr. Beznosov was a Senior Research Associate with the FIU's Center for Advanced Distributed Systems Engineering (CADSE), conducting research on engineering access control for distributed enterprise applications. He also worked on distributed DBMS development at High Performance Database Research Center at FIU, where he received a M.S. in Computer Science in 1997. Dr. Beznosov's prior work on applying CORBA Security architecture to computerized medical records at Baptist Health Systems of South Florida laid the foundation for the OMG standard on Resource Access Decision (RAD) Facility. He actively participated in standardization of security-related OMGs specifications (CORBA Security, RAD, SDMM) from 1997 to 2001, and was a co-chair of the Security SIG.

Dr. Beznosov has served on program committees of SACMAT, NSPW, NDSS, SOUPS, SafeConfig, and CCS . Having published various research papers on security engineering, he is a co-author of "Enterprise Security with EJB and CORBA" and "Mastering Web Services Security" by Wiley Computer Publishing, and a contributor to the "Handbook of Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering" by World Scientific Publishing.
