HP-50g HP-49g+ Interpolates into a semilog curve (two programs)
  • When we are given a curve as a table of y versus x, for instance B(T) versus H(A/m), but the "horizontal" axis is logarithmic (in our example, the H axis is logarithmic), we can use this program to enter with a value of H and get the corresponding B ("ILOGX"), or use this other one if we enter with a value of B and we want the corresponding H ("ILOGY").
HP-50g HP-49g+ From two numbers on the stack, it makes a complex number and back
  • If in REC mode, enter the real part to the stack, then the imaginary part and use this program to create a complex. If in POL mode, enter the absolute value to the stack, then the argument (angle) in the angle-mode that the calculator is currently on (DEG/RAD) and use this program to create a complex number. Included also is the inverse of this program. Check out HERE.
HP-50g HP-49g+ Triangle Solution
  • These programs were released by Hewlett-Packard with their legendary HP-25c, a long time ago. I adapted and translated their functionality unto the HP-49g+/50 . These programs are not in direct downlodable into the calculator format, they are human readable to by typed by hand! Check them out . There are five programs that call one another, that need to be stored as SAA, SSA, ASA, SAS, SSS. Test them thoroughly, as they are provided on a "as is" basis and no warranty of their correctess or accuracy is made, and you use them at your own risk.
HP-50g HP-49g+ A programming manual
  • This in not as much software as it is the most important resource to program your HP-50g and HP-49g+. It contains, among many other things, a detailed introduction to programming the calculator, with examples; and also, in Appendix C, the complete list of System Flags (like the ones that I use in the "toggle" programs in the other entries of this list below. The manual is HERE.
HP-50g HP-49g+ Toggle between Rectangular and Polar, and Degrees and Radians
  • Two mini-programs to set toggle keys, one to toggle between Polar and Rectangular mode, and another to toggle between Degrees and Radians. They rely on testing the system flags -16 and -17 (which tells the calculator what mode it is currently in).
Check them out HERE. There are three programs, that need to be stored as SAA, SSA, ASA, SAS, SSS. I'll include the last two soon.
HP-50g HP-49g+ Linear or Cubic interpolation programs
  • When the magnetization curve of a machine is given, not as a plot, but as a table, we need to interpolate between the supplied points. You can use a linear interpolation, download THIS program. Or a cubic interpolation, which is more accurate in our case, then download it HERE. In the linear case I am supplying a program that goes from 'x' to 'y' and another that returns from 'y' to 'x'. In the cubic case, only 'x' to 'y' is included. These programs are not in direct downlodable into the calculator format, they are human readable to by typed by hand!
HP-50g 2.09 ROM version
  • If your calculator has the ROM version 2.08 (in RPN mode, type VERSION and enter it to the register (1) of the stack, then click on EVAL), you need to upgrade it to version 2.09. Why? Because version 2.08 cannot do many of the things that you need for this course and 2.09 can! Download the file HERE, and the instructions how to install it, HERE. Be extra careful to follow those instructions to the letter lest you damage your calculator irreversibly. Be particularly careful pushing the RESET hole at the back of the calculator, if you apply too much force, you may break the little pushbutton there and render the machine "ready for service."
